How important are shoes?

If I had a dollar for every time a patient walked in with foot pain in a pair of thongs!

Footwear can be a huge part of the problem when it comes to pain within the lower limb. Because of that, it is so important to bring a bag of your most worn shoes to your podiatry appointment, whether that is runners, work heels or sandals! Your footwear will tell a story to your Podiatrist and give crucial insight with regards to your foot function and gait pattern.

In this case here, the sole of this patient's runners show an increase in wear patterns at the fore foot on the R foot (shoe on the left) when compared to the left, this can be seen by comparing the black lines running front to back. This type of finding can lead your Podiatrist down a treatment path that could be different had this patient arrived in Haviannas!

So remember, footwear can be just as important as the foot! If you are experiencing pain or think your shoes need replacing, make an appointment with Hunters Hill Podiatry Practice today!
